This was our first teams first ever event. At this qualifier we placed #2 in the qualification rounds and went on to be the 2nd place alliance captain alongside our alliance partner Team 4017, the robopandas.
At this event we once again made it to the finals with our new alliance partner Team 16938, the Mages. At this event we also won the most coveted award, the Inspire Award.
At this event we once again made it to the finals and ending up winning with our new alliance partners Team 5477, Innovo and Team 17384, the Rambam Rambots. This is our teams first win.
At regionals we had a few mistakes during the qualification matches and we ended up placing 12th. However the 1st ranked team, Team 22942 Iron Phoenix picked us to join their alliance. We went on to get to the finals and lose 1-2. We put up a great fight and it was an amazing first time at a regional championship!
Kyle Hasset, a software engineer for the startup STEG.AI spoke to the Robotics Team and the Coding Club about his experience in the innovative world of digital media. This meeting provided great insight to the team on the software industry and the opportunities ahead for those interested in coding.
We welcomed Stefano Matussi to join us for a presentation and Q&A where he brought us through his career journey from being an aerospace engineer working with the European Space Agency to becoming a Yale-educated MBA program director at IBM, helping shape the future of their engineering strategy.
We also invited Baffour Osei, the robotics lab manager at Princeton university, to join a call with us and show us some to the amazing features of their robotics lab. He asked us very thought-provoking and intriguing questions, as well as answered all the questions that we asked him. He provided us with many valuable suggestions and helped us improve in a plethora of ways.
We visited Canon USA headquarters and toured the interactive camera museum . During this trip, our team learned new and fascinating technologies such as the Amlos. This provided our team with an insight into camera optics and digital photography.
As a part of our sustainability plan, we hosted showcases at our school’s Open House events. By doing this, we were able to guide prospective students through the engineering development process and promote FTC.
The Freshman Carnival at our school is an annual event for school clubs and organizations to promote themselves and recruit new members. By attending, we were able to recruit and mentor underclassmen, shaping the future of our team.
We presented our robot to a class at X-RobotX, a local robotics engineering company, and showed off what robotics could offer them. We taught them skills to build robots and helped them with their FLC LEGO Robotics Challenge.
In December, our team arrived at Sewanaka High School to meet with The Robopandas. They showed us around their engineering lab, how their robot works, how they built their robot, and how they created their portfolio. We also got to share details about our robot and portfolio along with providing suggestions for how they can improve their robot design.
In February, we hosted an event in which Invicta and Vega visited St. Anthony's. During this meetup, our team gave a tour of our innovation lab, showed how we built our robot, how we practice for competitions/our game strategy, and the process behind the coding of our robot. This was a significant event as we gained new friends and were able to share advice regarding our engineering process.
With this being our first robot we stuck to using the goBilda chassis with an advanced gripper on the end of the arm.
